Whitstable Removals

Questions, answered

The things people ask us most — about moving around Whitstable and the coast, storage and packing, the London-to-coast move, moves into Europe, and how quotes and booking work.

Moving around Whitstable & the coast

Which parts of Whitstable do you cover?

All of it. The old town and working harbour, the weatherboard cottages and the alleys off the High Street, Tankerton and its slopes, Seasalter along the coast, and Chestfield and Swalecliffe inland. CT5 is our core patch, and we cover the immediate coast and neighbours besides.

How do you manage the narrow "catches" and harbour lanes?

With planning. Many of the old-town alleys are too narrow for a large lorry, so we look at the access first, bring a van that fits the lane, and carry the load the last stretch by hand where we have to. It is careful, unhurried work — exactly what a cottage in the catches needs.

Do you cover Tankerton and Seasalter?

Yes, and regularly. Tankerton’s seafront and slopes and Seasalter’s beachfront homes and marsh-edge lanes are familiar ground. Once you are clear of the town’s alleys the coast road makes for a straightforward load, and we plan the parking near the seafront ahead of the day.

Do you move homes in Chestfield, Swalecliffe and Herne Bay?

We do. Chestfield and Swalecliffe’s suburban semis and newer estates give a move room to breathe, and Herne Bay along the coast is an easy run from our base. These are wider-road, driveway moves compared with the old town — different, and we plan for the difference.

Do you cover Canterbury and Faversham?

As neighbours, yes — Canterbury inland on the A290 and Faversham west along the A299. Canterbury’s medieval centre has its own access restrictions, which we plan around. We keep these lighter than Whitstable itself, but a move to or from either is no trouble.

Services, packing & storage

What is included in a home removal?

A survey before the day for anything but the smallest move, protection for your furniture and floors as standard, dismantling and reassembly of beds and wardrobes, and careful loading and setting-down at the new address. Packing, storage and unpacking can be added — you choose the level.

Do you offer man-and-van for smaller jobs?

We do. For a single room, a few larger items or a quick collection along the coast, a driver and a right-sized van is often the sensible choice. We will be honest about when a man-and-van fits and when a full removal would serve you better.

Can you provide storage in Whitstable?

Yes — clean, dry, secure storage for a few boxes, garden and furniture items, or a whole home. We take a full inventory as your things go in, and we can fold a move-and-store into one booking with one team, which helps when the dates between homes do not quite meet.

Do you supply packing materials?

We supply quality cartons, wrapping and protection, and we can pack the whole house, just the fragile items, or leave you to it with the right boxes to hand. Everything we pack is listed on a labelled inventory so nothing is mislaid.

Can you move an office or independent shop?

Yes. Whitstable’s independents and businesses are part of what we move. We plan commercial moves around your opening hours — out of hours or at the weekend where it protects trading — handle IT, desks and equipment, and can store surplus stock and records. The aim is to keep any downtime to a minimum.

London-to-coast & European moves

Do you do the London-to-Whitstable relocation?

Often — it is one of our most common moves. The trend of moving down from London to the coast is real here, and we know the corridor and the coastal access at the Whitstable end. We handle the whole move so the change of pace feels like a fresh start, not a stressful day.

Do you move from Whitstable to Europe?

We run household moves that depart from Whitstable to France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Each is framed as a route pair — from your CT5 address to the new one abroad — and one team stays with the move from collection to delivery.

How does customs work after Brexit?

For personal belongings going to a new main home in the EU there is a recognised relief, and we prepare the paperwork — the inventory and the transit and customs documents — as part of the move. You will not be left to work it out at a border; we handle that side and explain what you need to sign.

Can you take a part-load rather than a whole van?

Yes. If you are not filling a lorry, a shared load — your goods consolidated with other moves heading the same way — is often the sensible option. A dedicated load runs to your own schedule. We will explain which suits what you are moving.

Quotes, timing & booking

How do I get a quote?

Send us your details and a little about the move through the quote form, and we will reply by email with a clear, written, no-obligation quote. For larger homes we will arrange a survey first so the figure is grounded in what is really there.

How quickly will you get back to me?

Promptly — usually within a working day or two of receiving your details. If your move is time-sensitive, say so in the notes and we will prioritise it.

When should I book?

As early as you comfortably can, especially around the busier end of the week and the end of the month, and through the summer when the coast is busy. That said, we will always try to help at shorter notice — just get in touch and we will see what we can do.

Are my belongings covered?

Yes. Goods-in-transit and liability cover are part of how we work, and we will set out the terms in writing with your quote so you know exactly where you stand before anything is booked.

Is the quote really no-obligation?

Completely. The quote is there to help you decide. If the timing or the fit is not right, there is no pressure and nothing owed — we would rather you moved with us because it suited you.
